Three Local Advisory Committees meet three times per year to advise the MAPS researchers on a range of topics. Membership includes family members of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, agency directors or delegates, and representatives of the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Each group has between 10 and 13 members and they are located in:
Southeast - Kingston
Central - Toronto
North - Thunder Bay
Through our Consumer Consultations infrastructure, 26 adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities from 4 communities across the province (urban, rural, northern) contribute to the MAPS program.
In the Central Region (Toronto), the Consumer Consultations Group includes 10 adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities; five of whom attend with a support person. The Southeast Region (Kingston/Kemptville) Consumer Consultations Group includes four adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities living in Kingston and four living in Kemptville who join by videoconferencing. The latter are supported by two agency staff. In the North Region (Thunder Bay), eight adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and one support person make up the Consumer Consultations Group.
