Collaborative Research - Quality Outcomes

On February 24, 2016, MAPS researchers Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz, Lynn Martin, and Katherine McKenzie presented an interactive webinar entitled “From research to practice: Implementing a frailty measure for older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities”. Over 100 participants from across Canada participated. The webinar is now available online HERE.

MAPS Researchers Lynn Martin and Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz receive funding from MCSS to study the evolving support needs of adults with IDD as they age in the community. Using population-level, they will examine changes in frailty and service use among home care recipients with IDD over time, and the extent to which these are different by place of residence (i.e., at home vs. group home setting).

From research to practice – Join MAPS for an interactive webinar from 11 am to noon on Feb 24, 2016 discussing implementation of a frailty measure for older home care users with IDD. For details and to register go to http://tinyurl.com/h476otu

A new study on frailty in IDD has been published by Katherine McKenzie, Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz, and Lynn Martin. They developed a frailty tool using the RAI-Home Care to capture increased vulnerability in individuals in Ontario. Click here to read more.

Katherine McKenzie defended her MSc thesis in Public Health Sciences at Queen’s University. Working with MAPS researchers, Katherine developed a measure of frailty in IDD and demonstrated its relationship to admission to long-term care in Ontario.

MAPS Researchers Helene Ouellette-Kuntz and Lynn Martin receive funding from TVN (Technology Evaluation in the Elderly Network) to work with Reena to study frailty in adults with IDD.
